Postdoctoral Research Associate – High Resolution Retinal Imaging

The New England College of Optometry

Posted September 13, 2010

Several postdoctoral research associate positions are available in the laboratories of Dr. Stacey Choi and Dr. Nathan Doble in the Department of Vision Science at the New England College of Optometry (NECO), Boston, MA. Successful candidates will work within a highly collaborative research environment focused on the development and use of high resolution adaptive optics instrumentation for the study of retinal structure and function. We are interested in candidates with the following expertise:

Biomedical Engineering / Applied Optics: We seek individuals with experience in the design and construction of precision optical instruments. Expertise in the application of adaptive optics and / or optical coherence tomograph to biomedical imaging will be particularly advantageous.

Vision Science / Retinal Physiology: Candidates with experience in vision testing, visual psychophysics, retinal physiology and retinal/visual electrophysiology are encouraged to apply. We seek individuals who are able to work closely with patients and subjects to enhance our understanding of the relationship between retinal structure and function.

For both areas, we seek exceptionally talented candidates at the PhD, MD/PhD or OD/PhD level. Proficiency in computer programming (e.g. Matlab, LabView, C++ or equivalent) is required. Good communication and writing skills are essential. A good balance of independence and collegiality in research is required. The College offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits. NECO is a professional graduate school located in the heart of Bostonís Back Bay.
